About
wherewhendive is a dive-travel planner built around a single question: when, what, or where?Tell it one of those — a month, a species, or a place — and it shows you the other two: which destinations are worth it, when they’re at their best, and what you can realistically expect to see.
It’s built for certified divers planning a trip a few months out — the kind of person who reads three operator pages and a forum thread before booking. The goal is to do that legwork honestly in one place.
The thing that makes it different is what it won’tdo. It doesn’t promise you’ll see anything. Sightings are shown as likelihoods by month, never guarantees. Seasonality is only ever what a real source says — if the sources don’t agree, that’s stated rather than smoothed over. Every destination lists its genuine downsides — cold water, long crossings, park closures, baited dives, coral bleaching — alongside the draws. And every claim is cited.
How that data is researched and how far to trust it is described on the methodology page. If you spot something wrong, that page tells you how to flag it — corrections are welcome and the point.
It’s a personal project, not a booking agent or a dive operator. Plan with it; dive with qualified local operators and within your certification.
