Egypt
Best overall months to dive: Mar, Apr, May, Sep, Oct, Nov
Egypt's diving is overwhelmingly a Red Sea story. The north — anchored on Sharm el-Sheikh — is the accessible end: the reef walls of Ras Mohammed National Park, the current-swept reefs of the Straits of Tiran, and WWII wrecks led by the SS Thistlegorm, reachable by resort day boat or liveaboard and diveable year-round. The south (the Brothers, Daedalus, Elphinstone) is oceanic and current-swept, with grey reef, thresher and oceanic whitetip sharks, and is advanced, mostly liveaboard territory. For now only the Northern Red Sea region is populated here; the southern offshore reefs are a separate profile.
